Mission
The Young Singers of West Georgia is an elite choir school organized to provide a unique musical experience to students in Troup County & the surrounding area. Since its founding in 1995, the school’s reputation has been one of excellence. Young Singers offers students advanced choral training, instruction in proper vocal technique & music reading skills, and also provides exceptional performance opportunities. The choir school presents two major concerts per season. Christmas Memories is an annual production featuring a wide spectrum of Christmas favorites from all genres of music. This performance has become well-loved by both the choristers & the audience. Each season ends with a Spring Concert featuring outstanding choral music. The choir school now offers an Advanced Musicianship Class for students who want to delve deeper into the world of music reading & theory. It includes rigorous training for All-State Chorus auditions, which leads to successful results for 99% of the students who audition after the course. In addition to local concerts & weekly training, choristers have the opportunity to apply for the Tour Choir each season, allowing the students & their families to grow culturally through the opportunity of travel & performance.
History
Since its beginning, the choir school has offered three overseas tours to London, Northern Ireland, & Austria/Hungary. Tours within the US have included the opportunity to sing on the stages of Carnegie Hall & St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City, The National Shrine in Washington, DC, as well as countless others in Los Angeles, Chicago, Nashville, & Orlando. The opportunities that these young musicians encounter are phenomenal & rare, and are a direct result not only of the caliber of their singing, but also of the professional manner with which they rise to each new challenge.
